Shipping​/Receiving Clerk

Job Description

A manufacturing company is seeking a Shipping/Receiving Clerk to prepare parts for shipment and verify incoming and outgoing shipments. This is a first shift opening working 6 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.

Job Responsibilities:

• Pack parts, thread protect, skid parts, wrap, and prepare shipping documents
• Load and unload trucks and schedule truck and vans
• Affix shipping labels on packed cartons identifying shipping information on cartons
• Assemble wooden or cardboard containers or selects pre-assembled containers and insert items into containers
• Nail covers on wooden crates and binds containers with metal tape
• Stamp, stencil, or glue identifying information and shipping instructions onto crates or containers
• Post weight and shipping charges and affixes postage
• Unpack and examine incoming shipments, reject damaged items, record shortages, correspond with shipper to rectify damages and shortages, and route items to departments
• Examine outgoing shipments to ensure shipments meet specifications
• Maintain inventory of shipping materials and supplies
• Operate tier lift truck or uses hand truck to move, convey, or hoist shipments from shipping and receiving platform to storage or work area

Job Requirements

Qualifications:

• Must have a High School Diploma or GED; or 1 to 3 months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
• Must have prior Shipping and Receiving experience in a manufacturing setting
• Must have previously operated a forklift truck and jib crane
• Must have knowledge of Microsoft Office
• Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds and have steel toed boots
• Must be safety-conscious, have an eye for detail, and be a reliable, team player
• Must have a solid work history with no attendance issues
