Responsibilities
- Assemble machine bases, frames, guards, and sub‑assemblies for paper converting and packaging equipment.
- Install electrical components such as motors, sensors, photo eyes, drives, servo systems, PLC panels, HMI units, relays, and safety devices.
- Lay out and route wiring for control cabinets and machine‑mounted junction boxes according to diagrams and specifications.
- Drill, tap, and prepare surfaces for mounting components on converting and packaging machinery.
- Install pneumatic lines, valves, regulators, and cylinders used in packaging systems.
- Cut, strip, bend, and terminate wire and conduit for machine wiring and control system integration.
- Connect color‑coded and labeled wires accurately, including in compact machine spaces.
- Solder connections and crimp terminals following quality standards.
- Assist with mechanical assembly, including alignment of rollers, tension systems, knife assemblies, belts, guides, and guarding.
- Perform functional tests and basic troubleshooting of electrical and mechanical assemblies.
- Review drawings and work orders, reporting discrepancies to engineers or supervisors.
- Maintain accurate inventory usage through production orders.
- Safely operate hand tools, power tools, measurement devices, and electrical test equipment.
- Read and interpret tape measures, blueprints, and wiring diagrams.
- Follow all company safety policies, procedures, and PPE requirements.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and hazard‑free work area.
- Use lockout/tagout procedures when working on powered or energized equipment.
- Inspect tools and equipment before use, reporting unsafe conditions immediately.
- Follow established electrical safety practices when wiring or testing equipment.
- Participate in safety training, audits, and toolbox talks.
- Report incidents, near misses, and safety concerns to supervision.
- Promote a safety‑first culture and encourage safe behavior among team members.
- Participate in onboarding and skills‑based training required for assembly tasks.
- Maintain up‑to‑date knowledge of assembly procedures, safety practices, and equipment standards.
- Support the training of new Assemblers or temporary workers by demonstrating proper techniques and safe work practices when requested.
- Assist in cross‑training efforts within the assembly department to build team flexibility and skill coverage.
- Provide feedback to supervisors or engineers regarding unclear work instructions, training needs, or process improvements.
- Experience with industrial machinery, especially packaging or converting equipment
- Ability to read mechanical and electrical blueprints
- Familiarity with wiring PLC‑controlled equipment
- Basic understanding of pneumatic and machine safety devices
- Strong mechanical aptitude and problem‑solving skills
- Standing, walking, bending, reaching, and performing physical assembly tasks
- Using hands for wiring, crimping, assembly, and tool operation
- Lifting or moving 50–80 pounds
- Working around moving mechanical components
Vision requirements include close, distance, color, peripheral, and depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
Work Environment- Manufacturing environment with exposure to machinery, noise, oils, and related industrial conditions
- Temperature variations depending on season
- PPE required
