Position: Finishing Material Handler, 7am-7pm, 2-2-3 - Painesville, OH

Finishing Material Handler

Painesville, OH – Full-time – 7am-7pm – $ per hour (approx. 3 months ago)

Apply to join Avery Dennison, a global materials science company, as a Finishing Material Handler. This on‑site role supports our manufacturing processes in Painesville, Ohio.

Responsibilities
  • Pull bulk rolls for finishing assets – practice FIFO and bring oldest material to the machines.
  • Bring pallets to the finishing area.
  • Bring in pallets from outside and stage by the entrance to dry when it is raining or snowing.
  • Consolidate materials: move small rolls to Vpans, place pallets/racks into open racking, and work with coating lines to consolidate Renolit racks.
  • Break down and store metal and plastic bulk racks.
  • Stretch wrap pallets of product coming from finishing.
  • Load finished goods onto trucks for DC as needed.
  • Unload trailers as required.
  • Pull QA's MPI sample list and return it when finished.
  • Pull edited rolls from the editor: pick up rolls from the Editor, put them away, and run coating drop‑off rolls to the editor.
  • Remove scrap from finishing – replace Gaylord and scrap racks.
  • Pick up and transfer material racks, pallets, and other consumable supplies to/from production areas as required.
  • Bring empty racks to DUSE for specific orders (e.g., Modagrfix, Liner/face jobs).
  • Remove racks and pallets of finished goods from DUSE when finished.
  • Replenish cores at MU2 when asked by the operator.
  • Remove scrap and broken pallets from the finishing floor, stack them properly, and load them onto the scrap truck.
  • If RCRA certified, unload and put away totes if no other DOT‑certified drivers are available.
  • Operate the floor scrubbing machine and clean the floor in the finishing department at least regularly.
  • Keep all fire doors and exits clear. Keep material from being stored in front of electrical panels or on walkways.
  • Perform accurate inventory transactions to document material movement within the Inventory Management System.
  • Consolidate 15,000 racks.
  • Maintain good housekeeping throughout the site and support all 5S housekeeping activities.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or equivalent (GED) or 3+ years of relevant manufacturing work experience.
  • Trained forklift operator.
  • Basic computer skills; MES/Oracle experience and ability to learn ship and receive functions.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to build relationships with all functions and levels of the organization.
  • Must regard safety as a core value and serve as a role model for safety practices.
  • Ability to follow written and oral instruction.
  • Flexibility and willingness to accept and potentially initiate change.
  • Ability to work well with all levels of management and employees.
  • Willingness to work overtime as required, including short‑notice requests.
  • RCRA trained or able to be RCRA trained.
  • Demonstrated record of flexibility and dependability to support production and customer focus.
  • Proficiency in essential tasks of the job and willingness to learn and share knowledge; willingness to take initiative to cross‑train and sustain acquired skills.
  • Strong service and quality focus; ability to address issues effectively, communicate root cause, and educate the team promptly.
  • Ability to contribute actively in a team‑based environment and encourage open communication and positive interaction with peers and management.
Preferred Requirements
  • 3 to 5 years of previous material handling experience.
  • Solid interpersonal skills, mathematical aptitude, mechanical/technical aptitude, and logical problem‑solving skills.
  • RCRA certification.
