SummaryAssistant in Training (AIT) and Assistant Manager positions focus on fulfilling Buckle’s mission to create the most enjoyable shopping experience for guests. Key responsibilities include sales, merchandising, operational tasks such as cashiering, merchandise display, register procedures, facility cleaning, recruiting and developing teammates, and acting as the Store Manager in their absence.

Sales Generation and Guest Service- Greet guests with a friendly, engaging attitude and provide legendary service.
- Answer questions about the store and its merchandise.
- Recommend, select, and help locate or obtain merchandise based on guest needs.
- Anticipate and fulfill guest needs by suggesting additional items.
- Demonstrate product using product knowledge and sales education.
- Maintain knowledge of current sales and promotions, payment and return policies, and security practices.
- Track personal sales and seek opportunities to influence team presentations through the Sales Presentation Guide (SPG).
- Achieve personal sales-per-hour, average sales, and total net sales goals set by store management.
- Provide legendary service throughout the store in key areas:
Front 5, sales floor, fitting rooms, and register area. - Understand exchange and return procedures and turn them into showmanship opportunities.
- Use the SPG daily to accomplish sales goals.
- Meet or exceed performance standards in Buckle business builders and guest loyalty.
- Explore ways to expand guest selection through inventory management, advanced product search, and iPad apps.
- Build and maintain strong guest relationships to develop a client‑based business.
- Lead with showmanship, excellent customer service, and attentiveness.
- Communicate guest levels with the team.
- Ask business‑driven and showmanship questions to managers and teammates.
- Welcome feedback from management to improve sales presentations.
- Perform leadership actions and maintain high standards, even when the manager is absent.
- Plan sales goals with the store manager.
- Own the store’s sales performance (sales, average sale, business builders, denim).
- Show passion for product education and showmanship to create results.
- Identify recruiting opportunities using Jobs & Careers cards, email referrals, and the Teammate Recommend program.
- Coach and build relationships through guest loyalty and guest preferred initiatives.
- Develop skills, lead, motivate, and educate new teammates to meet Buckle’s accountability, shift orientation, loss prevention, and sales presentation standards.
- Maintain a positive attitude to foster a positive floor culture.
- Model personal dress code and coach teammates on fashion.
- Participate in daily setup, training, and performance review using the Performance Tracker.
- Motivate teammates to complete daily tasks set by store management.
- Influence denim showmanship and denim fit cards through teammates and guests.
- Create and develop results in your department; balance DM actions and mid‑week check‑ins.
- Execute department calendar actions and track on the weekly delegation worksheet.
- Demonstrate leadership actions during segments.
- Engage guests with product.
- Communicate with fellow leaders and team members.
- Remember and use guest names.
- Show products of both the gals and guys sides to benefit teammates and guests.
- Partner with the store manager to set education focus and delegate week‑long initiatives.
- Assist in recruiting all store staffing needs.
- Explain pay and Buckle benefits.
- Maintain updated contact lists and attract top talent.
- Implement the Leadership playbook training.
- Own accountability for characteristic pieces.
- Conduct SPG teammate/leader training shifts.
- Coach with the manager on all non‑sales positions.
