Student Nurse Extern

The Extern is a participant in the Student Nurse Extern (SNE) Program at any one of three levels. The SNE assists nursing staff by performing selected procedures and routine duties in caring for patients. All functions must be within the scope of training for their given EXTERN level and performed under the supervision of a Registered Nurse. Additional skills are added to the SNE job responsibilities in alignment with progression through their undergraduate nursing program.

1) Student Nurse Extern I (Level
2) Nurse Extern II (Level
3) Nurse Extern III.


Must be enrolled in nursing program with recommendation from faculty instructor or leader in the program (must be submitted with your application) including one of the following:

• Kentucky State Registry (SRNA)
• Fundaments of Nursing course successfully completed
• One year of experience as a nurse aide
