We are seeking a dedicated and detail-driven Airfreight Coordinator to support our Freight Manager and oversee the end-to-end air export process. You will play a key role in coordinating shipments, managing documentation, and ensuring seamless execution of airfreight movements within the fast-paced perishable industry. This role also includes various adhoc tasks requiring initiative, strong communication, and exceptional organisational ability.
Key Performance Outputs
Operations
- Coordinate and formalize loading allocations and instructions
- Communicate clearly with load points and freight partner
- Secure airfreight space and ensure all deadlines are met
- Resolve operational issues swiftly
Documentation
- Prepare and send loading instructions and custom invoices
- Record dispatch and loading data accurately
- Maintain the Airfreight Log
- Verify final freight documentation and distribute to clients and clearing agents
Logistics
- Oversee and adjust block and ad-hoc airfreight bookings
- Ensure Freight Forwarder adherence to SOP requirements
- Track shipment movements (ETD/ATD/ETA/ATA) and communicate delays
- Stay updated on flight schedules and availability
- Validate and sign off creditor invoices against quotes/agreements
Pre-Season
- Build strong relationships through planned visits
- Assist in SOP reviews
Low Season
- Support broader logistics functions as needed
Education & Experience
- Senior Certificate / Grade 12 / Matric
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in the perishable industry
- Solid background in airfreight operations
- Proven ability to support and coordinate the full air export process from start to finish
Technical Skills
- Computer literate: MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
- Professional email etiquette
- ERP system experience
- Excellent verbal and written communication
- Strong planning and organisational skills
- Strong relationship-building abilities
- Detail-driven, results-focused, and customer-oriented
- Able to work independently with minimal supervision
- Thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
- Able to handle confidential information with discretion
