Airfreight Coordinator

We are seeking a dedicated and detail-driven Airfreight Coordinator to support our Freight Manager and oversee the end-to-end air export process. You will play a key role in coordinating shipments, managing documentation, and ensuring seamless execution of airfreight movements within the fast-paced perishable industry. This role also includes various adhoc tasks requiring initiative, strong communication, and exceptional organisational ability.

Key Performance Outputs

Operations

• Coordinate and formalize loading allocations and instructions
• Communicate clearly with load points and freight partner
• Secure airfreight space and ensure all deadlines are met
• Resolve operational issues swiftly

Documentation

• Prepare and send loading instructions and custom invoices
• Record dispatch and loading data accurately
• Maintain the Airfreight Log
• Verify final freight documentation and distribute to clients and clearing agents

Logistics

• Oversee and adjust block and ad-hoc airfreight bookings
• Ensure Freight Forwarder adherence to SOP requirements
• Track shipment movements (ETD/ATD/ETA/ATA) and communicate delays
• Stay updated on flight schedules and availability
• Validate and sign off creditor invoices against quotes/agreements

Pre-Season

• Build strong relationships through planned visits
• Assist in SOP reviews
  

Low Season

• Support broader logistics functions as needed

Education & Experience

• Senior Certificate / Grade 12 / Matric
• Minimum 3 years’ experience in the perishable industry
• Solid background in airfreight operations
• Proven ability to support and coordinate the full air export process from start to finish

Technical Skills

• Computer literate: MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
• Professional email etiquette
• ERP system experience

• Able to work independently with minimal supervision
