Responsibilities- In accordance with state and federal regulations, assist the pharmacist, under direct supervision, in the practice of pharmacy and assist with other Pharmacy Department duties per Company policies and procedures.
- Use pharmacy systems to obtain patient and drug information and process prescriptions. If PTCB certified, assist with and coach other technicians in operating pharmacy systems and cashiers in the operation of the pharmacy cash registers.
- Model and deliver a distinctive and delightful customer experience.
- Engage customers by greeting them and offering assistance with products and services. Resolve issues and answer questions to ensure a positive customer experience.
- Model and share customer service best practices with all team members, including interpersonal habits (e.g., greeting, eye contact, courtesy) and Walgreens service traits (e.g., offering help proactively, identifying needs, servicing until satisfied).
- Develop strong relationships with most valuable customers.
- Under the supervision of the pharmacist, assist in the practice of pharmacy in accordance with state, federal, and company policy; review and comply with the Walgreen Co. Pharmacy Code of Conduct.
- Perform duties as assigned by Pharmacy Manager, Staff Pharmacist, and Store Manager, including entering patient and drug information, ensuring accuracy, filling prescriptions by retrieving, counting, and pouring medications, verifying accuracy, and checking for possible interactions. Assist pharmacists in scheduling and maintaining workflow.
- Report prescription errors immediately to the pharmacist on duty and adhere to Company policies and the Quality Improvement Program.
- Adhere to Good Faith Dispensing policies during all applicable prescription dispensing activities.
- Register all related sales on the assigned cash register, handle cash as required, and assist customers to locate products.
- Handle routine telephone calls, including those to physicians.
- Process (correct and resubmit) manual claims for third-party prescription services in a timely, efficient manner, and perform other clerical duties as assigned by the Pharmacy Manager.
- Assist and support Pharmacy Department inventory management activities, including ordering, unpacking, and storing shipments. Maintain knowledge of asset protection techniques and file claims for overages, shortages, order errors, or damaged Rx drugs.
- May assist the pharmacist in administering clinical services, including the collection and labeling of samples, and assist coordination of clinical services, Walgreens healthcare clinics, and external providers.
