Role:
Adoptions Engineer

Working as part of our Technical Team here in Caterham, Surrey, you will co‑ordinate and facilitate the timely adoption of development infrastructure to the relevant adopting authorities. Utilise and engage both Technical, Build and Commercial resources to obtain the necessary information, evidence, practical completion, remedial works and ultimately certification or vesting. To reduce the overrun bond fees and adoptions portfolio, you will aim to obtain adoption well in advance of overrun fees being triggered.

What you’ll be doing
  • Read, understand and comply with the Company procedures applicable to the Technical Department and your job function.
  • Establish and maintain the adoptions schedule, including the legacy portfolio and incorporate upcoming adoption projects.
  • Flag and monitor bond overrun risks and set strategies to resolve and remove overrun projects with direction and agreement of the Technical Manager and Director.
  • Manage communication with all stakeholders in the adoption process for highways, drainage, open space, utilities and any other relevant adoption/transfer process.
  • Co‑ordinate internal or external resources to provide the required information as agreed with the adopting authorities.
  • Understand and interpret drawings, schedules, testing, reports and surveys to ensure accurate and timely transfer of information.
Skills & knowledge you’ll bring
  • Engineering or construction qualification HND or above or 5+ years extensive work experience in house building or infrastructure adoptions or Council or statutory undertaker.
  • Proficient IT skills including packages such as Autocad, Microsoft.
  • Good knowledge of current building regulations, NHBC requirements, highways and drainage standards.
  • Direct experience in legal and technical processes for roads, sewers and utilities.
  • Excellent communication, influencing and negotiation skills, with positive and proactive stakeholder management skills.
  • Strong project management skill set, with good organisational skills and record keeping.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple complex priorities in a fast‑paced environment.
