Technical Manager, Linaker

With rapid growth over the last few years, our Technical team has been instrumental in driving the business forward. We are now looking for an exceptional Technical Manager to join this stellar team and help the company continue to scale and innovate.

Responsibilities
  • Lead all technical aspects of service delivery and empower the engineering team to maintain a market‑leading standard of mechanical and electrical maintenance engineering.
  • Monitor and manage compliance against Linaker’s Mechanical and Electrical Safety Rules.
  • Identify, log, review and mitigate engineering risks in a consistent manner.
  • Recognise individual and team development needs and incorporate them into suitable action plans.
  • Provide technical support—including peer review, advice, guidance and incident investigation—to contract delivery teams and clients. This includes:
  • Review of additional works proposals.
  • Approval of SOPs/EOPs.
  • Production of switching schedules where required.
  • Maintenance of the Contract Authorised Persons register in line with contract requirements.
  • Site point of control for internal training programs, including management of site‑based or mobile apprentices.
  • Management of the maintenance programme for HV and LV assets, including shutdown activities.
  • Review and propose updates to the programme in line with legislative requirements and operational needs.
  • Audit planned maintenance tasks conducted by gás onsite or mobile engineering teams.
  • Plan and oversee works to integrate occupant systems with landlords’ installations (e.g., tap‑off installations and mechanical connections).
  • Conduct audits of onsite/mobile teams to ensure compliance with Linaker and site standards.
  • Drive technical innovation within the business, supporting clients with new solutions.
  • Lead training initiatives, ensuring pragmatic, real‑world application beyond classroom learning.
  • Ensure all technical operations adhere to Health, Safety, Environmental & Quality regulations and policies, aiming to exceed industry standards where possible.
  • Work toward achieving Authorized Engineer (AE) status if not already qualified.
  • Support procurement on onboarding and vendor management, ensuring key vendor relationships deliver quality, value and technical competence.
  • Create and update company policy documents to reflect organisational standards and best practices.
  • Possess in‑depth knowledge of all electrical and mechanical systems, undertaking engineering manager duties as required.
  • Manage and maintain all existing and proposed company technical accreditations and their retention.
Qualifications
  • Recognised apprenticeship, BTEC HNC/HND (preferably a degree equivalent) within electrical/mechanical engineering or equivalent discipline.
  • Full membership of a recognised sector‑specific institution (e.g., CIBSE, IET, IMechE).
  • Recognised health and safety qualification (e.g., IOSH, NEBOSH).
  • Proven experience and involvement in business‑critical engineering systems.
  • Experience working within a client contract environment with specific KPI performance measures.
  • Practical experience collaborating with supply partners to deliver seamless, Resulting integrated services.
  • Experience managing sites remotely through effective vendor management.
  • Experience using CAFM systems for asset and works planning.
  • Proven ability to negotiate and navigate complex technical challenges.
  • Experience managing mobile engineering services across multi‑site client environments.
