. This school is committed to fostering independent learners prepared for adult life, offering a broad, personalised curriculum for students with Education, Health, and Care Plans (EHCPs) for Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH). Our students often face additional challenges, including ASC, ADHD, speech and communication difficulties, and attachment disorders. Our dedicated staff and tailored, trauma-informed approach ensure every young person can thrive.

About the School: This school provides a holistic education that goes beyond core subjects like English, Maths, Science, and Employability and Life Skills. We integrate provisions focused on developing positive mental and emotional health, including PSHE, ELSA, Mindfulness, Animal Care, and a range of wellbeing activities. Our trauma-informed practices offer targeted support, respecting each student's unique journey and tailoring pathways for them to achieve and succeed at their own pace.

We recruit passionate, perceptive staff committed to student success and offer continuous professional development, encouraging collaboration and best practice sharing.

The Role of SENCO: As SENCO, you'll be a pivotal member of the Senior Leadership Team, guiding our SEND provision. You'll ensure every student with an EHCP receives exceptional support, fostering their academic progress and wellbeing. Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Leading the strategic development and operational oversight of our SEND provision, ensuring full compliance with the SEND Code of Practice.
  • Coordinating and chairing all Education, Health, and Care Plan (EHCP) reviews, ensuring person-centred planning.
  • Liaising effectively with parents/carers, external agencies (e.g., EPs, SALT, CAMHS), and other professionals.
  • Managing and developing our dedicated team of Learning Support Workers and Teaching Assistants, promoting best practices in supporting SEMH and associated needs.
  • Providing expert guidance and professional development to staff on inclusive teaching, differentiation, and trauma-informed practices.
  • Maintaining accurate SEN records and using data to inform provision and school improvement.
  • Championing the school's vision of nurturing independent learners prepared for adult life.

The Ideal Candidate:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) is essential.
  • The National Award for SEN Coordination (NASENCO) or a commitment to achieving it within three years.
  • Significant leadership experience within a specialist SEN school, ideally with a focus on SEMH.
  • A deep and current understanding of the SEND Code of Practice and best practices for supporting students with SEMH, ASC, ADHD, speech/communication difficulties, and attachment disorders.
  • Proven ability to develop and implement effective SEN provision, leading to outstanding outcomes for students with complex needs.
  • Exceptional leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, with a collaborative and empathetic approach.
  • A genuine passion for fostering student wellbeing, resilience, and independence.
