Who are Step Into Teaching?

We are a pre teacher training programme that is designed to support and encourage graduates like yourself to choose teaching. We will typically provide you with one years’ worth of practical school-based experience that is an essential foundation for a long-lasting successful career in teaching, educational psychology or counselling. This experience will allow you to qualify for teacher training in the future but will also give you insight into whether teaching is for you.

The opportunity:
  • Primary School in Caterham, Surrey
  • Full-time role:
    Monday - Friday
  • ASAP Start to July 2026 (scope to made permanent)
  • £550- £575 per week – term time only
  • Class-based role
  • Working with students with SEN and supporting autonomous settings (independent learning)

What can we offer?
  • We have a fantastic opportunity for you to work within an all-through School based in the Caterhamarea as a Graduate Higher Level Teaching Assistant.

For this role, the ideal graduate will:
  • Hold a degree with a 2:1 or above.
  • Be able to take direction and take initiative when required
  • Assist and lead in the delivery of a variety of subjects with, working alongside a senior lead teacher.
  • Engage 1:1/in small groups with students to help grow their academic potential.
  • Work collaboratively with staff to enhance the learning experience for all students.
  • Passionate about working with young people and supporting their educational journey.
  • Strong interpersonal skills; the ability to build a positive rapport with pupils and teachers alike.
  • Minimum 6 months experience as a Teaching Assistant in a Primary School setting.
