Under the supervision of the Nurse Manager, the
Per-Diem
Crisis Services Nurse
is responsible and accountable for prescribing, implementing, and evaluating the nursing care delivered within the program, and for utilizing the nursing process to provide assessment, treatment planning, and evaluation of client care within designated clinical areas.
The Nurse acts as a clinical role model and provides nursing consultation to staff within the assigned areas of responsibility.
ABOUT VENTURA COUNTY CRISIS SERVICES
Seneca's Ventura County Crisis Services programoffers a spectrum of behavioral health care crisis services to support youth and their families. These services provide safe refuge for young people who have experienced profound mental health needs including psychiatric evaluation or hospitalization. Services include crisis stabilization and short-term acute residential treatment, as well as transition and planning services to return youth to a setting in the community with stability.

Responsibilities
- Provide quality care, including nursing triage and assessment.
- Evaluate and chart illness and/or injuries.
- Manage physician orders andprescriptions.
- Ensure safe medication processes are followed, including:
- Procurement
- Ordering
- Storage
- Administration practices
- Collect and analyzeassessment data to formulate resident care problemsandindividualized outcomes.
- Plans, implements,and evaluates nursing interventions.
- Collaborates with Psychiatrist to ensure quality of medication administration, adequate consents, medicaltreatmentand follow-up.
- Maintain working relationship with pediatricians, specialists, psychiatrists, therapists, and hospitals who provide care to the youth.
- Communicate effectively with others and promote teamwork.
- Participate in nursing department staff meetings, multidisciplinary team meetings,and otherdepartmentalactivities.
- Provide ongoing training for staff on medications and other health-related education.
- Utilize crisis communication and de-escalation techniques as per Seneca's Equilibrium model training. This may include intervening with the clients' behavioral program through physical management of the clients, if applicable. Training inadditionalcrisis intervention modalities such as CPI may be required.
Qualifications
REQUIRED
- Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Bachelors of Science in Nursing preferred
- Active California Registered Nursing License
- Public Health Certificate Preferred
- CPR – BLS
- Organized, takes initiative, and has excellentcorrespondence and follows through with team
- At least 21 years of age.
- TB test clearance, fingerprinting clearance, and any other state/federal licensing or certification requirements.
PREFERRED
- Experience with pediatrics, mental health, Community Care Licensing regulations, and/or triage assessment a plus.
Schedule
- Hours will vary
- Starting at $54.91 - $57.41 per hour.
- Actual salary is dependent on creditable experience above the minimum qualifications for the role.
- Additional compensation may be provided upon passing bilingual language proficiency exam.
