OverviewPrecise Systems is seeking a Journeyman Systems Engineer to support our Weapon Systems Integration contract at the Naval Surface Warfare Center, Port Hueneme Division (NSWC PHD). The position will serve as a STANDARD Missile systems engineer, providing technical expertise for the SM-2, SM-3, and SM-6 In-Service Engineering Agent (ISEA).
Location & ScheduleThis role performs on site, 5 days per week, in Oxnard, California.
Responsibilities- Provide In‑Service Engineering (ISE) Technical and Life Cycle Support for STANDARD Missiles and All‑Up‑Rounds (AURs) in support of the fleet, program sponsor, and OEM; participate in Integrated Product Teams (IPT), Failure Review Boards, Technical Working Groups, and Audit teams.
- Prepare technical presentations and documentation for technical interchange reviews, project meetings, program reviews, working groups, and mission control panels & flight readiness reviews.
- Determine root cause of missile, sub‑component, and test equipment failures and develop corrective action and mitigation procedures.
- Review design documentation, drawings, and reports related to STANDARD Missile and AURs, round maintenance & handling operations, and Automatic Test Equipment (ATE) operations & maintenance.
- Provide technical support for program plans & reports, project schedules & cost estimations, fleet loadouts, data calls, and action items.
- Analyze new initiatives, new technologies and industry best practices for integration into existing and new Missile and All‑Up‑Round (AUR) processes & procedures.
- Bachelor’s Degree in an Engineering Discipline (Electrical, Mechanical, Aerospace, or other engineering disciplines).
- Engineering graduate degree preferred.
- At least 7+ years of experience working as a systems engineer.
- Demonstrated ability to participate in cross‑functional planning, coordination, and task execution teams.
- Ability to work well with people from many different disciplines and varying levels of technical experience.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to present findings to technical and non‑technical audiences.
- Ability to multi‑task and work in a dynamic, fast‑paced environment.
- Ability to lift at least 25 lbs.
- Ability to travel up to 25%.
- Eligible to obtain and maintain a Secret Security Clearance.
- Valid driver’s license for possible CONUS travel.
- Current U.S. passport for possible OCONUS travel.
The salary range for this position is $86,190.40 to $ (annualized USD). Compensation is determined by education, experience, skills, and contract‑specific requirements.
