Salary Range: $27.00 – $32.00 per hour

Under the direction of the CAD Data Manager, the CAD Data Tech 2 (CDT2) creates, modifies, plots, and files complex CAD drawings and assemblies. When required, the CDT2 works directly with Product Line Design Groups in creating new product drawings and assemblies.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Creates complex CAD drawings and assemblies, working from sketches or actual parts.
  • Understands and can employ ANSI 14.5 geometric dimensioning and tolerance.
  • Uses company CAD system at an expert level and applies advanced techniques such as advanced layering, editing, dimensioning, and file import/export.
  • Works on all drawing categories used by the company, including castings, weldments, machined parts, gears, electro‑mechanical devices, sheet metal, purchased items, decals, tooling, and global sourcing documentation.
  • Checks the work of other CAD Data Techs for accuracy and adequacy of dimensions, tolerances, symbols, and title block data.
  • Creates exploded assembly drawings and reference drawings for sales and promotional literature.
  • Corrects master models and maintains mates and content between configurations.
  • Prepares and transmits instructions, templates, models, and drawings to outside contractors; receives completed work, inputs SAP material links, and reports to engineers when drawings are ready to release.
  • Might work as a task leader, assisting and instructing other team members on new or different tasks.
  • Follows instructions, procedures, escalates issues impacting workflow or quality, and demonstrates honesty, integrity, and adherence to rules, procedures, and policies.
Supervisory Responsibilities

Minimum Qualifications
  • 2+ years of CAD drafting and CAD assembly related experience.
Education

High school diploma or high‑school equivalency (HSE) credential such as a GED is required, plus an additional one to three months of related experience, training, and/or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Language Skills
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret English business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, and/or governmental regulations.
  • Ability to write analytical and/or technical reports, business correspondence, procedure manuals, and create instructional reference material.
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups, customers, employees, and the general public.
Mathematical Skills
  • Ability to calculate figures such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, areas, circumferences, and volumes.
  • Ability to apply concepts of arithmetic, algebra, and geometry.
Reasoning Ability
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Ability to interpret a wide range of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and manage multiple abstract and concrete variables.
Physical Demands
  • Sitting (often).
  • Occasionally walking.
  • Frequently standing.
  • Frequently bending neck and twisting neck or waist.
  • Frequently climbing, kneeling, crawling, reaching above or below shoulder level.

  • Vision: close, distance, color, peripheral, depth perception, and focus adjustment required.

Work Environment
  • Loud noise level.
  • General office or engineering lab environment, often near machining, vibration, hazardous chemicals, moving mechanical parts, electrical shock risk, and outdoor weather conditions.
