About The Position: Medical-Surgical Nursing Tenure Track

Minimum Degree Requirements: Applicants must have an earned doctoral degree in nursing or a closely related field. All but dissertation (ABD) candidates will be considered but must have completed the nursing degree by June 1, 2026.

• Possession of, or eligibility for, a California RN license.
• Minimum of one year of experience teaching courses related to medical-surgical nursing, or completion of a course that includes supervised practice in teaching nursing.
• At least one year of continuous full-time direct patient care experience as an RN within the past three years, or eligibility for California Board of Registered Nursing approval to teach medical-surgical nursing.
• Ability to effectively engage with a broad student population and provide mentorship that supports student academic success.

• Ability to teach in two content areas, preferably medical-surgical nursing and a specialty such as psychiatric, community health, obstetrics, or pediatric nursing.
• Ability to effectively use multiple teaching modalities to support diverse learners.
• Experience with the CA Board of Registered Nursing or CCNE accreditation.
• Excellent communication and collaborative skills; flexibility in teaching assignments, including willingness to teach during the summer session.

CSU Channel Islands seeks candidates for an Assistant or Associate Professor in Nursing to plan, develop and teach prelicensure and post-licensure Nursing courses in the classroom, clinical setting, and the campus simulation lab. Duties include advising students, maintaining accurate student records and clinical grades, coordinating clinical instruction with other faculty and clinical personnel, and maintaining communication between the University and clinical agencies.

Additional responsibilities include participating in curriculum development, ongoing curriculum improvement, and engaging in scholarly productivity related to nursing practice and education. Assignment may include day, evening, night, and weekend…
