Role overview

Provide trauma informed, person centred support to individuals experiencing domestic abuse, including those who are homeless or at risk of homelessness and who may also present with complex needs such as substance misuse, mental health challenges, and financial or social instability.

This role focuses on assessing and managing risk, promoting safety and stability, and empowering clients to recover from abuse, secure safe accommodation, and work towards independence. Support is delivered within a coordinated multi agency framework to address both immediate safety concerns and longer-term wellbeing.

Key responsibilities
  • Assessment & Case Management:
    Receive referrals and complete holistic needs assessments for individuals experiencing domestic abuse and complex needs.
  • Direct Support & Trauma‑Informed Practice:
    Provide trauma‑informed, empowering support to clients affected by domestic abuse and a wide range of complex needs, including but not limited to substance misuse, mental health challenges, housing instability, and other factors impacting their wellbeing.
  • Homelessness Prevention & Housing Support:
    Work with clients who are homeless or at risk of homelessness due to domestic abuse.
  • Multi‑Agency Partnership Working:
    Work collaboratively with statutory and non‑statutory partners including police, social care, mental health teams, substance misuse services, probation, housing providers, and health professionals. Attend multi‑agency meetings such as MARAC, safeguarding conferences, and case reviews.
  • Safeguarding &

    Risk Management:

    Identify and report safeguarding concerns relating to adults or children using correct procedures.
  • Record Keeping & Compliance:
    Maintain accurate, timely, and confidential case records in line with ADAS policies and data‑protection requirements.
  • Service Delivery & Development:
    Deliver structured one‑to‑one and group interventions as required by the service specification. Contribute to service development by identifying gaps, suggesting improvements, and supporting new initiatives.
More About You
  • Educated to GCSE level or equivalent in Math’s and English (Grades A*
    - C)
  • Qualification or training in domestic violence/abuse, criminal justice, law, social work or other related area - desirable but not essential
  • Intermediate MS Office skills and willingness to learn new systems
  • Good understanding of trauma-informed practice
  • Experience of risk and needs assessment and safety and support planning, particularly with clients with complex/multiple needs.
  • An excellent understanding of the criminal justice system and relevant legislation with particular regard to legal and civil options, housing, benefits, matrimonial and children.
  • Experience of managing complex multiple caseloads and seeing the case through to the end
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, able to communicate effectively both orally and in writing. Able to work effectively within a team setting and alone.
  • Experience of working in multi-agency settings including statutory and voluntary services, with an ongoing commitment to partnership working
