University of Oxford – Oxford Centre for Emerging Minds Research (OxCEMR)

Oxford, UK

General Description

The University of Oxford’s OxCEMR seeks a Part‑time Postdoctoral Researcher to contribute to a Medical Research Council (MRC)-funded feasibility randomised controlled trial (RCT) aimed at increasing access to Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) for preadolescent children with Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD). Based within the Departments of Psychiatry and Experimental Psychology at the Life and Mind Building, this role combines research project leadership with trial coordination, NHS site engagement, and data collection.

The appointee will oversee day‑to‑day management of the RCT, maintain close professional interaction with NHS research and clinical teams, manage amendments to research ethics approvals, and support high‑quality data analysis. This part‑time (80% FTE) position is funded until 15 June 2027 and supports hybrid working with a minimum on‑site presence. The role also encompasses diagnostic assessments with children and their caregivers, qualitative interviews, research dissemination, contribution to academic outputs, and representation of the research group at meetings.

Eligibility

Criteria

Applicants must hold, or be close to completing, a relevant PhD/DPhil in psychology, psychiatry, clinical science, or a closely related discipline, with sufficient specialist knowledge to contribute to established research programmes. Experience working with children and families in clinical or research settings, and experience liaising with NHS sites, including navigating research ethics processes, are required.

Required expertise/skills
  • Proven ability to manage and coordinate aspects of complex research projects, particularly RCTs or similar designs.
  • Experience conducting quantitative and qualitative research, including diagnostic assessments and interviews.
  • Strong analytical and organisational skills, with the capability to manage time, meet deadlines, and build effective interdisciplinary relationships.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including contribution to research publications and proposals.
  • Familiarity with research data management systems such as REDCap and experience working with clinical partners.
