Overview
We are looking for an enthusiastic Pain Management Nurse to join our team in Oxford at the Churchill Hospital, part of the Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.
Responsibilities- Participate in the development and provision of Pain Management services both inpatient and outpatient across the Trust.
- Provide high‑quality, effective, and individualised pain‑management advice to all patients in a compassionate manner.
- Independently assess patients’ care needs and develop, implement, and evaluate care plans with supervision where required.
- Assist in the development and continuation of Trust‑wide training and education programmes.
- Support the implementation of national and Trust‑wide policies, guidelines and standards for pain management and benchmark practice through quality audit.
- Deputise for Senior Specialist Nurses (SSN) or Advanced Clinical Practitioners (ACP) during staff shortages or in line with professional development.
- Help run the outpatient pain clinics and support pain intervention procedures, including x‑ray procedures.
- Work flexibly across the Pain Management Service and collaborate with the multidisciplinary team.
- Registered Nurse with current NMC registration.
- First‑level degree (HEI Level 5 or
6) in the undergraduate base profession. - Demonstrable evidence of ability to complete postgraduate study at Level 6 or 7.
- Appropriate UK professional registration.
- Supervision, mentoring or facilitating workplace learning qualification.
- Evidence of educational development within pain management (specialist pain course or equivalent experience).
- Knowledge or transferable skills relevant to the Pain Management Service.
- Experience of team leadership or management skills.
- Evidence of excellent clinical and practical skills.
- Experience of clinical governance practices, audit, service evaluation or quality improvement.
- Existing technical clinical procedural skills relevant to pain management.
- Commitment to studying for required postgraduate training.
- Evidence of delivering educational teaching and associated evaluations.
- Evidence of effective teamwork as part of a multi‑disciplinary professional team.
