Summary
The Lab Technician is responsible for supporting R&D, prototyping, and manufacturing teams through the preparation, assembly, and testing of mechanical and electronic components. The role requires hands‑on use of milling and drilling, 3D printers, soldering, PCB rework and other laboratory equipment to produce high‑quality prototypes and fixtures. This is an on‑site position in Oxford to ensure close collaboration with engineering and production teams.
MajorResponsibilities
- PCB rework and cable assemblies
- Operating milling and lathe machines to produce custom mechanical parts
- Using 3D printing equipment for rapid prototyping
- Assembling and testing prototypes and sub‑assemblies for medical devices
- Maintaining lab equipment, tools, and materials to ensure readiness for projects
- Assisting engineers with test setups, data recording, and troubleshooting
Supporting documentation of builds and tests according to quality standards - Adhering to the letter and spirit of Organ Ox’s Code of Conduct and all other company policies
- Hands‑on experience with milling and lathe machine operation
- Experience with 3D printing and CAD file preparation
- Prototyping and small‑batch assembly skills
- Basic understanding of mechanical and electronic systems
- Ability to follow engineering drawings and technical instructions
- Strong attention to detail and quality standards
- Ability to work independently and in a team
- Strong communication and organisational skills
- Significant relevant laboratory or workshop experience gained in a similar role
