Assisting the Area Manager of Logistics in their day-to-day activities, you will help us deliver an efficient and effective transport service.

While no two days will ever be the same, you can expect to manage and plan the allocation of duties to members of the team, according to the rota each day.

Ensuring every driver and subcontractor has been well-briefed on their activities, you will also take responsibility for overseeing resources, supplies and equipment.

With budgetary responsibilities including authorising expenses, you will monitor fuel stocks, and you will manage the delivery of bulk fuel and lubricants plus other consumables.

Working quickly to solve problems as they arise so that they do not impact on our operations, you will have the flexibility to turn your hand to any challenge. As such, you will train your team on the collection, transportation and delivery of blood and blood related products, and you will also be responsible for sharing insight on packing specialist equipment and products.

As an inspirational line manager, you will be responsible for handling complex employee relations matters including performance reviews and disciplinary actions.

The office is open from 07:00am to 16:00 from Monday to Friday and you will work either 07:00 to 15:00 or 08:00 until 16:00. No bank holidays are required.

Main duties of the job
  • To assist the Area Manager Logistics in all aspects of the efficient and effective operational running of the Transport service.
  • To manage and plan the day-to-day allocation of duties in accordance with relevant rotas for the team, which may require adjustment.
  • First line manager of their team. This includes managing the resources, supplies, equipment and staffing of the team, authorising expenses and budget signatory.
  • To supervise the day-to-day allocation of work to drivers and subcontractors.
