Software Engineering Manager IoT Platform

We’re partnering with an innovative Oxford-based technology business that is expanding its cloud engineering capability. As part of this growth, they are seeking a Software Engineering Manager to lead the design, development, and evolution of a sophisticated Azure-based platform supporting large-scale IoT environments.

This is a hands‑on leadership role that combines technical architecture, team development, and strategic oversight. You will take ownership of the cloud ecosystem, ensuring it is scalable, secure, and aligned with long‑term product objectives.

Working closely with cross‑functional stakeholders across engineering, product, and operations, you will guide architectural decisions, improve engineering processes, and champion best practices across cloud infrastructure and software delivery.

• Lead and mentor a multidisciplinary software and data engineering team
• Define and evolve Azure‑based cloud architecture, including IoT infrastructure and customer‑facing services
• Ensure high standards of performance, scalability, reliability, and cyber security
• Oversee device connectivity, authentication, and secure data transmission frameworks
• Drive adoption of modern Dev Ops principles, including CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure as code
• Support data ingestion, storage, and analytics initiatives for high‑volume IoT data
• Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to deliver cohesive technical solutions
• Contribute to technical roadmap planning and long‑term platform strategy

You will likely be an experienced Software Engineering Manager, Cloud Engineering Lead, or Senior Technical Lead with a strong background in Microsoft Azure environments.

• Demonstrable experience delivering cloud‑based software platforms
• Strong knowledge of Microsoft Azure services (e.g. IoT Hub, AKS, App Services, etc.)
• Solid development background, ideally in C# (.NET), with exposure to Python beneficial
• Experience implementing security best practices and working within recognised security frameworks (e.g. ISO 27001)
• Familiarity with CI/CD tooling and infrastructure-as-code approaches (e.g. Terraform)
• A collaborative leadership style with the ability to inspire and develop engineers
• Approximately 8+ years of software engineering experience
