About Us

Morland House Surgery is a highly regarded teaching practice in the picturesque village of Wheatley, with excellent transport links to Oxford and nearby major junctions. We serve approximately 11,500 patients in a semi‑rural location and work from attractive and well‑appointed premises. Our multidisciplinary team consists of 11 doctors, a GP trainee, pharmacists, nursing staff, social prescribers and care navigation team, and an onsite pharmacy.

Job Responsibilities Primary Responsibilities
  • Develop, implement and embed health promotion and well‑being programmes, including opportunistic health promotion.
  • Support care planning for patients with long‑term conditions.
  • Identify, manage and support patients at risk of developing long‑term conditions.
  • Provide chronic disease clinics for asthma, COPD, and other conditions, referring to secondary or specialist care as required.
  • Deliver routine nursing care in line with clinical evidence, NICE and the NSF.
  • Provide wound care, ulcer care and Doppler assessment, referring to other services when needed.
  • Deliver venepuncture and ECGs when required.
  • Provide cytology screening services and audit results.
  • Administer vaccinations to adults & children according to the National Immunisation Programme.
  • Participate in flu and COVID vaccination clinics.
  • Provide travel health advice and immunisations.
  • Request pathology services, process and interpret results.
  • Maintain accurate clinical records with appropriate coding.
  • Chaperone patients where necessary.
  • Assist GPs with minor surgery as required.
  • Prioritise health issues and intervene appropriately.
  • Support the team in clinical emergencies.
  • Delegate clinical responsibilities appropriately within scope of practice.
  • Assess and refer patients with mental health, safeguarding, substance misuse or community health needs.
Additional Responsibilities
  • Lead and participate in clinical audits.
  • Monitor safe storage, rotation and disposal of medicaments.
  • Contribute to the implementation of staff and student training programmes.
  • Act as Infection Control Lead, ensuring latest guidelines are followed.
  • Provide clinical supervision for the nursing team.
  • Participate in local initiatives to enhance service delivery and patient care.
  • Support shared learning within the practice.
  • Review clinical practices and respond to national policy updates.
  • Contribute to planning and implementation of CCG patient pathway initiatives.
  • Participate in structured review of significant and near‑miss events (Root Cause Analysis).
  • Maintain professional registration and comply with revalidation requirements.
Person Specification Experience
  • Experience working in a GP Practice.
  • Experience working within a nursing team.
  • Experience in COPD and infection prevention & control measures.
  • Experience working autonomously and as part of a team.
  • Experience in Diabetes care.
Qualifications
  • Registered Nurse with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC).
Knowledge and Skills
  • Excellent clinical knowledge and skills.
  • Chronic disease management awareness.
  • Ability to record accurate clinical notes.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Flexibility with hours to cover annual leave and sickness.
