Are you passionate about working with severe and enduring mental health difficulties and people in acute distress?
We are seeking a compassionate and friendly HCPC registered psychologist for a fixed term maternity leave cover on a part time basis. It could be offered as a secondment opportunity.
The post holder would to work directly on our two acute inpatient wards based at the Fulbrook centre, Oxford. You would offer clinical supervision and oversight to the other psychology staff working in to the wards including, a practitioner psychologist, assistant psychologists and offering trainee placements.
This role is recognised as crucial in ensuring that patients get access to high quality psychological treatments within the older adult inpatient wards.
You would be part of a strong and supportive inpatient psychology service who are located on the adult of working age acute inpatient wards in Oxford.
You would have a clear co-created job plan that is varied and flexible. There would be allocated time to pursue an interest or develop skills in line with the service as well as ample opportunity to develop your leadership skills.

Main duties of the jobKey duties of this role will be:
- To provide psychological assessment and intervention for adults with severe and/or complex mental health difficulties in an inpatient setting.
- To supervise and support the psychological assessment and therapy provided by Clinical/ Counselling Psychologists and other clinical members of the team who provide psychologically based care and treatment.
- To work as part of the inpatient team providing advice and guidance to colleagues as well as to social care and GPs in planning and implementing care plans for patients with psychological care needs.
- To work autonomously within professional guidelines and the overall framework of local policies and procedures. To exercise responsibility for the systematic governance of psychological practice within the inpatient wards.
- To utilise research skills, as a requirement of the job, for audit, policy and service development and research.
- To propose and implement policy changes which may impact on other professionals working in the inpatient service.
- To take delegated leadership in specific area of clinical responsibility.
