The Neonatal Unit at the John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford is one of the largest in the country, and provides specialist level 3 medical and surgical ICU, HDU and LDU care for babies across the Thames Valley Neonatal Network.
We have three separate opportunities available and are looking for expert clinical Neonatal Nurses with a special interest in either:
Fi Care
This role will be a clinical Neonatal Nurse with a particular interest in collaborating with the MDT to promote, support and embed a FiCare culture across all aspects of neonatal care on the unit.
Low Dependency Unit Lead
This role will be a clinical Neonatal Nurse able to provide clinical and managerial leadership concentrating in, but not exclusively, in the Low Dependency area of the Neonatal Unit.
This role will be an experienced Neonatal Nurse with a special interest in delivering high quality, evidence based and family centred bereavement care within the neonatal unit.

Main duties of the job- Act as a leader and role model for all members of the nursing team.
- Work as a member of a multi-disciplinary team, recognising the contribution of others while maintaining high standards of neonatal care.
- Anticipate needs and provide support for other members of the staff team.
- Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate individualised care for a designated group of babies and their parents.
- Maintain high standards of individualised nursing care and family centred care for premature and sick neonates.
- Encourage practice which develops partnership with parents and maximises their contribution to the care of their baby.
- Act as an advocate, upholding the best interests of the neonate and the family.
- Co‑ordinate the safe transfer of babies to and from the neonatal unit.
- Take a lead role in initiating agreed changes within the neonatal unit.
- Maintain own professional development to ensure that all nursing practice is based on current knowledge and relevant research.
- Uphold the NMC code of practice and be aware of the implications of the scope of practice.
- Demonstrate an in depth of knowledge of neonatal nursing practice.
- Promote the application of current research to clinical practice.
- Initiate and contribute to research into neonatal nursing practice.
