Trainee Advanced Clinical Practitioner-Asthma Respiratory Band 7 (Developmental) with progression to Band 8a upon qualification.

Are you an experienced asthma or respiratory nurse ready to take the next step in your career?

We are offering an exciting opportunity to join our Respiratory Asthma Service as a Trainee Advanced Clinical Practitioner (Band7) with a clearly defined pathway to progression as a Qualified ACP (Band 8a). We are offering this role to a registered nurse with substantial experience in asthma or respiratory care working or aspiring to work at an advanced specialist practice level.

This post is supported by a structured development programme as aligned to the Multiprofessional Framework for Advanced Clinical Practice. You will contribute to the assessment, diagnosis and management of patients with asthma including those with complex and high risk disease. You will progressively develop autonomy in clinical decision making, supported by structure supervision, education and proficiency assessment.

Main duties of the job
  • Develop and provide comprehensive clinical care, specialist advice, and support to patients in Special Airway service.
  • Develop experience as an advanced, autonomous practitioner, alongside the members of the multidisciplinary team in Special airways service.
  • Competent in performing and interpreting spirometry and FeNO tests, able to run an independent nurse-led clinics to diagnose and treat patients with airways disease (primarily asthma), direct experience and involvement in airways disease research.
  • Demonstrate and develop proficiency across the four pillars of advanced practice, namely clinical practice, leadership and management, education and research-evidenced through completion of the academic programme, alongside a portfolio of professional practice.
  • Deliver the biologics service
  • Role model the values of the OUH, demonstrating a person centred approach to service delivery and improvement.
  • Work towards increasing knowledge and skills in advanced clinical practice, in order to initiate, evaluate and modify a range of interventions which may include the prescribing of medications, therapies, life style advice and care.
