Job responsibilities

Key areas for the role:

  • Clinical Leadership and Service Delivery:
    Provide visible expert leadership to ensure the delivery of safe and effective SACT services aligned with clinical best practice and organisational values.
  • Patient Safety and Clinical Governance Compliance:
    Maintain oversight of patient safety. Lead and manage incidents, clinical audits, and risk assessments to ensure the SACT service meets internal standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Team Leadership and Workforce Development:
    Lead, support and develop a high-performing SACT nursing team, promoting a strong team culture and continuous professional development.
  • Service innovation and Patient

    Experience:

    Collaborate with the central nursing team, referrers, pharmacy, clinical and operational teams to enhance patient experience, streamline pathways, and support service growth.

Person Specification

  • This role may require working outside of normal hours.
  • This role may require occasional travel to other centres.
Experience

Essential

  • Significant post-registration experience in Oncology/Haematology and SACT administration (minimum 5 years).
  • Proven leadership and senior clinical experience (minimum 3 years).
  • Strong understanding of governance, audits, incident, and risk management.
  • A commitment to promoting a culture of safety, compassion, and professionalism.
Qualifications

Essential

  • Registered Nurse (Adult) with valid NMC registration
  • Current UKONS SACT Passport
  • Advanced Life Support (ALS) – or willing to work towards
  • Post registration qualification in Oncology and/or Haematology
  • Post registration qualification or equivalent experience in leadership and management
