Maternity support workers are central to quality care and information provision working alongside midwives and the wider professional teams to achieve excellence in maternity care.

You will work closely with the Birth Reflections, Healthy Lifestyles, Equality, Diversity and Inclusion , Antenatal Newborn Screening, Infant Feeding and Vaccinations teams. You will primarily be based at the John Radcliffe hospital with the possibility of being asked to travel to other sites. Duties will included arranging appointments and gathering notes, as well as providing tours for women who have experienced birth trauma.
This role is always expanding, with duties dependent upon the needs of the public health team. You will need to be comfortable with using computers on a daily basis. You may be asked to support the acute maternity wards as clinical need arises.

Main duties of the jobAs a member of the maternity team, you will support and closely work with registered midwives and sonographers to deliver a high standard of care to women in a caring and safe environment. To work as part of the wider ward team in developing and maintaining services provided to women and contribute to the safe, efficient and smooth running of the ward/clinical area.
To maintain the dignity and privacy of all women and respect their right to confidentiality.
To complete and maintain on an ongoing basis a generic and specific portfolio of clinical competencies and/or the Care Certificate as required. To review progress with line manager at regular intervals and
through the appraisal process. Understand own level of responsibility, scope of practice and accountability in relation to registered staff. All policies must also be adhered to at all times.
