Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is one of the largest NHS teaching trusts in the country. It provides a wide range of general and specialist clinical services and is a base for medical education, training and research.
The Trust comprises of four hospitals - the John Radcliffe Hospital
, Churchill Hospital and Nuffield Orthopaedic Centre in Headington and the Horton General Hospital in Banbury.
Our values, standards and behaviours define the quality of clinical care we offer and the professional relationships we make with our patients, colleagues and the wider community. We call this Delivering Compassionate Excellence and its focus is on our values of compassion, respect, learning, delivery, improvement and excellence.
Many of our recruitment programmes use Value Based Interviewing to identify those who have the skills we seek, who share our values and who are able to deliver compassionate excellence from the outset. Job overviewThe MRI department has recently undergone an extensive equipment replacement programme, seeing all its MRI scanners replaced with new state of the art scanning technology. The department has installed a Siemens Sola in a new dedicated purpose-built area with a dedicated anaesthetic room, bed bays, reporting work areas and separate cannulation areas, and will see an increase in the number of awake and GA paediatric imaging.
In addition to this the department has undergone the replacement of the 3T system with the installation of a Siemens Vida d. In addition there is a GE HDX Twinspeed 1.5T scanner within the department. Also on the John Radcliffe site there is a fourth MRI scanner dedicated to Neuro scanning in the Neuroradiology department in the West Wing of the hospital.
This scanner is in the process of being replaced and by the end of September a new Philips Ingenia Ambition will be installed. With the new technology the department is now able to set up links with the University MRI scanning department, seeing new and exciting research into scanning techniques and research.
The department performs an extensive range of investigations to include a wide range of Neuro, Ortho and Body Imaging.
The OUH Trust MRI department extends to both the NOC and Churchill sites with different specialty scanning to include MSK and oncology. The scanners on these sites are also in the process of being replaced to see a Siemens Sola and Vida at the NOC and GE Architect and Artist at the Churchill.
The department operates 7 days a week between the hours of 0800 and 2000 and there is a requirement to participate in the on-call service between the hours of 2000 and 0800.
