Job Overview

Maternity support workers are central to quality care and information provision working alongside midwives and the wider professional teams to achieve excellence in maternity care.

You will work closely with the Birth Reflections, Healthy Lifestyles, Equality, Diversity and Inclusion, Antenatal Newborn Screening, Infant Feeding and Vaccinations teams. You will primarily be based at the John Radcliffe hospital with the possibility of being asked to travel to other sites.

• Arrange appointments and gather notes.
• Provide tours for women who have experienced birth trauma.
• Support the acute maternity wards as clinical need arises.
• Use computers on a daily basis.
• Maintain the dignity, privacy and confidentiality of all women.

• Computer daily use required.
• Care Certificate required within the first 12 weeks of employment if not already achieved.
• Link grade post Band 2/3.
• Not eligible for overseas sponsorship.

• Supported by a named Maternity Psychologist 3 days a week and a core Practice Development Team.
• Core Practice Development Team can guide staff with career options and development opportunities.
• Registered midwives and sonographers work part of the wider ward team to deliver high standard care.
• Staff receive the Care Certificate and attend an enhanced induction programme delivered by the Support Worker Academy.
