Overview

An opportunity has arisen for a dynamic and motivated Band 5 Public Health Staff Nurse to join the newly integrated 0–19 Children and Young People’s Public Health Service in the City North locality, covering North Oxford, including Wood farm, Barton, Cutteslowe, Summertown, Botley and Kidlington and surrounding villages. The service brings together Health Visiting, School Health Nursing and the Family Nurse Partnership to deliver the Healthy Child Programme, providing high-quality, innovative support to help children, young people and families thrive.

Responsibilities
  • Work with children up to 8 years where there are identified concerns or vulnerabilities, delivering targeted health episodes of care in areas such as behaviour, diet and sleep.
  • Support the new four-year health and development review to aid school readiness.
  • Contribute to the safe and effective delivery of the 0–19 service within the caseload and as delegated by the SCPHN Health Visitor/School Health Nurse.
  • Based in the locality and work with the 0–19 teams in that area, supporting county-wide work where needed for children aged 0–8 years; partner with children, young people, families, primary care, schools and statutory and voluntary services to facilitate health-enhancing activities and improve health outcomes.
  • Deliver services to children and families within homes and community settings.
  • Undertake clinical activities including assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating family-focused care under delegation of a SCPHN Health Visitor/School Health Nurse and in partnership with other agencies.
  • Undertake Healthy Child Programme developmental and transitional assessments and plan, deliver and evaluate public health initiatives through community-based health promotion activities.
  • Adhere to safeguarding policies and engage in safeguarding processes under supervision from a SCPHN, including Early Help assessments and Team Around the Family processes.
  • Develop, participate in and maintain interagency networks in partnership with other agencies.
Requirements and Qualifications
  • Full valid driving licence and access to a vehicle for work; adjustments can be considered in line with the Equality Act 2010 where required.

You will be based within the locality (neighbourhood) and work with the 0–19 teams in that area, supporting county-wide work where needed, for children aged 0–8 years.
