Speciality Speech and Language Therapist – Acute Stroke

We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Speech and Language Therapist to join us within the Acute Stroke Speciality workstream at the John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford, on a permanent, full‑time basis (1.0 WTE, 37.5 hours per week, including weekends). This is an exciting opportunity to contribute and shape specialist services within one of the UK’s major thrombectomy centres.

Adult Speech and Language Therapy Service Manager, Charlie Howland.

The post holder will be an experienced Speech & Language Therapist who will work in the Acute Stroke SLT Specialty workstream based at the John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford. They will play a pivotal role in delivering high‑quality, person‑centred care for patients on HASU and ASU inpatient wards, and may also include outreach to Stroke patients in the Emergency Department as well as Critical Care units.

They will be an established and collaborative member of the wider Stroke MDT, as well as the wider OUH Adult SLT Department, which includes other specialist work streams including Acute General Medicine, Acute Neurosciences, Voice/ENT, Head and Neck Cancer and Critical Care. In addition, they will work closely with SLTs across the Buckinghamshire, Oxfordshire and Berkshire West Integrated Care System, particularly those SLTs working along the Stroke pathway.

The post holder will contribute to service developments and innovation, which includes participation in a weekend working rota within the Acute Stroke SLT workstream. They will also contribute to the development of their peers, colleagues and students within the SLT Department and wider multidisciplinary team.
