The Oxford Hills School District is seeking excellent candidates for a.5
FTE
Certified Occupational Therapist position for grades K-12.

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree (for grandfathered clinicians that graduated from a four year college or university in an accredited Occupational Therapy program prior to 2007)
    or
  • Master’s Degree for those who graduated from a four year college or university in an accredited Occupation program,after 2007.
  • Knowledgeable about Special Education regulations and Pupil Evaluation Team Process

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Ensures implementation of the District's mission and goals.
  • Plans, organizes, and provides Occupational Therapy services in the school setting to facilitate the development of mentally, physically, or emotionally disabled students to assist them in achieving a maximum level of function in the learning environment.
  • Adheres to federal and state legislation, regulations, and policies that are related to Occupational Therapy practice, as well as AOTA and NBCOT practice guidelines.
  • Reviews student’s file and referral paperwork, student’s current level of function, and physical/mental abilities in order to determine the Occupational Therapy evaluation procedures and treatment techniques that are required. These can include: therapeutic exercise, manual techniques, therapeutic activities, activities of daily living, adaptive equipment, training, and assistive devices.
  • Performs age appropriate assessments and provides safe and effective care. Applies various assessment techniques and records findings to develop or revise treatment programs. Assessment techniques may include but are not limited to manual muscle testing, range of motion evaluation, functional and/or activities of daily living evaluations, sensory evaluation, cognitive and perceptual evaluations, and fine motor/gross motor evaluations.
  • Plans and prepares written treatment programs for the Occupational Therapy section of the student’s Individualized Education Plan (IEP).
  • Records treatment, response and progress in clinician’s documentation log. Evaluates effects of treatment at various stages and adjusts treatments to achieve maximum benefit.
  • Consults with the student's educational team to obtain additional information regarding the student’s level of function across educational environments, and makes suggestions for task set up or environmental modifications suited to the student’s physical capacity, intelligence level, and emotional ability.
  • Teaches students the skills and techniques needed to maximize success and participation in school tasks.
  • Designs and constructs special equipment for students and suggests adaptation of students' learning environment.
  • Requisition s supplies and equipment, maintains and cleans equipment after each treatment session.
  • Orients, instructs, and directs work activities of Occupational Therapy Assistant(s) and Education Technicians. Provides training programs in OT techniques.
  • Enhances professional growth of knowledge base and skills on current developments in the field on an ongoing basis by participating in continuing education opportunities as dictated by state and national Occupational Therapy licensing guidelines (to include: professional literature, evidence based research, and online and live courses).
  • Monitors progress toward goals, completes progress notes per trimester/quarter, and submits for filing/billing in a timely fashion. Records in clinical notes all field consultation and evaluations/screenings.
  • Provides supervision, and the supervisee (Occupational Therapy Assistant) has a legal and ethical responsibility to obtain supervision.
  • Performs such other duties and responsibilities as may be assigned by the Supervising Administrator.
