As Finance Business Partner, you will play a key role within a complex, multi-stakeholder organisation, supporting effective financial planning and reporting across a diverse operational environment. Working closely with senior finance leadership, budget holders, project leads, data and evaluation teams, and income-generating functions, you will provide clear, insightful financial information that supports decision-making and enables the delivery of ambitious programmes and projects.
Responsibilities- Prepare and deliver monthly management reporting for a designated directorate, including key performance indicators and clear narrative on performance versus budget, forecast and prior year, identifying key risks, opportunities and underlying drivers.
- Work closely with senior stakeholders and budget holders to review monthly results and support the budgeting, forecasting and planning cycles in line with agreed finance timetables, providing both guidance and appropriate challenge to promote ownership of financial performance.
- Produce regular and ad-hoc performance reporting to support commercial activity, exhibitions and visitor metrics, including more frequent reporting where required.
- Approve purchasing activity, expense claims and corporate card reconciliations in line with financial controls and procurement policies.
- Review and provide financial input into business cases and investment proposals.
- Support accounts receivable activity linked to commercial income streams, working alongside the Finance Operations team as required.
- Act as a trusted finance partner to teams across the directorates, delivering advice, guidance and training to improve financial understanding and decision-making.
- Take an active role in improving finance processes and systems, supporting the implementation of updated policies and best practice across the function.
- Lead on the development of effective data collection and management approaches, ensuring reporting data is accurate, timely and structured to meet organisational needs, working collaboratively with evaluation, data and other key stakeholders to maximise use of shared data platforms.
- Maintain strong working knowledge of Microsoft Power Platform tools and their application to financial and operational data, including the use of DAX and M languages to support efficient data modelling and analysis.
- Oversee access and data security arrangements within Power BI reporting environments, ensuring appropriate controls are in place for sensitive information.
- Maintain and enhance existing Power BI reports, and develop new reporting solutions in response to user and finance team feedback.
- Design and maintain standard templates to support the consolidation of quarterly budgets, forecasts and longer-term plans.
- Act as deputy to the Head of Finance when required, including representing the function at senior meetings, boards or committees and supporting the wider finance leadership team.
