The Ashmolean Museum is the University of Oxford's world‑class museum of art and archaeology and forms part of the Gardens, Libraries and Museums Division. Open to everyone and located at the heart of Oxford, the Museum supports research, learning and public engagement while caring for collections of international importance. You will play a key role within the Ashmolean Finance team, providing high‑quality financial planning, reporting and analysis to support effective decision‑making across the Museum.
Working closely with the Head of Finance, budget holders, project managers, income‑generating teams and data colleagues, you will prepare and review management accounts, support budgeting, forecasting and planning processes, and deliver clear, insightful financial information. You will contribute to the continuous improvement of reporting and data quality through the development and maintenance of Power BI reports, support effective data governance and self‑service reporting, and deputise for the Head of Finance as required, including presenting financial information to senior colleagues and committees.
This is a full‑time post, working 37.5 hours per week.
You will be a qualified accountant with experience of working in a similar finance business partnering role and will bring strong financial acumen with the ability to interpret complex financial data and translate it into clear, practical insights. You will have a strong understanding of financial systems and reporting tools, including Power BI and advanced Excel, and a proven track record of developing management information and key performance indicators that meet business needs.
You will be confident preparing and discussing management accounts with budget holders, providing clear commentary on variances and offering effective support and challenge to help colleagues understand and take ownership of their financial position. You will have excellent written and verbal communication skills, strong attention to detail, and the ability to build positive working relationships with a wide range of stakeholders.
Experience of working in a cultural or heritage environment, knowledge of the University's Oracle financial system, or VAT knowledge would be an advantage.
