We are currently looking for compassionate and committed tutors to provide in-person support for secondary-aged pupils with Special Educational Needs (SEN).
This role focuses on delivering Maths and English sessions tailored to each student’s individual needs, particularly for pupils who may have experienced disruptions to their education and require additional support to rebuild their confidence and re-engage with learning.
Our students come from a range of backgrounds, and many benefit from a patient, calm, and consistent approach. This position is ideal for tutors who are adaptable, empathetic, and motivated to support meaningful educational progress.
Location
Tutoring will take place in person across Didcot, Banbury, and Bicester.
Pay
£25 – £30 per hour, depending on experience and the specific requirements of each placement.
About the Role
As a tutor, you will provide structured learning sessions designed to support students who may be facing gaps in learning, reduced confidence, or additional learning needs.
Your role will involve:
Delivering engaging Maths and English sessions at secondary level
Have previous experience supporting children or young people in an educational or related setting (e.g. tutoring, teaching, SEN support, teaching assistant roles, youth work)
Adapting lessons to suit each student’s ability, pace, and learning style
Supporting pupils to regain confidence and develop positive learning habits
Creating a supportive and encouraging learning environment
What We’re Looking For
We welcome applicants who have experience working with children or young people in roles such as:
Tutoring or teaching
Teaching assistant or classroom support roles
SEN support positions
Youth work or pastoral roles
Strong candidates will demonstrate:
Confidence teaching secondary-level Maths and English
Experience supporting students with SEN, or a genuine interest in developing this experience
Patience, reliability, and flexibility when adapting lessons
The ability to build positive relationships with pupils from diverse social and educational backgrounds
Hours & Commitment
Minimum availability: 10 hours per week
Tutors looking for a fuller schedule typically work with two to three students
Consistency, reliability, and professionalism are essential to help maintain stable support for our pupils
Key Responsibilities
Tutors will be expected to:
Deliver structured, engaging, and personalised lessons in Maths and English
Support pupils who may have gaps in knowledge or reduced confidence in learning
Accurately record attendance and complete a short session summary after each day
Build positive, professional relationships with students
Maintain clear and effective communication with the wider support team

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
