OSP is proud to collaborate with the National Student Leadership Conference (NSLC) in delivering a world-class summer programme for high school students in 2026.
Total HoursApproximately 5.25 teaching hours per 12-day programme (morning lectures of 45 minutes each), contracted across 2 programmes — totalling approximately 10.5 teaching hours for the summer. In addition, tutors will receive paid training at £25 per hour, typically 2–3 hours in total, with exact training hours confirmed closer to the programme start date.
Teaching ScheduleTeaching typically follows the below format:
Over the programme, you’ll deliver the general engineering strand: leading sessions that introduce foundational concepts across mechanical, electrical, civil, manufacturing, software, aerospace and chemical engineering, helping students understand how engineers design systems that drive modern innovation—from sustainable energy solutions and advanced infrastructure to robotics and drone technology. Your teaching will help students appreciate how engineers blend precision, ingenuity, and real-world application to create technologies that shape everyday life.
You will be provided with a full module handbook and approximately 80% of the course content, with 20% left flexible for you to adapt based on your expertise and teaching style. If you require any additional teaching materials, classroom resources, or further clarification regarding the handbook or programme content, please inform the OSP staff in advance so we can provide timely support.
Note:
this role covers the general engineering content only — a separate tutor will lead the drone/UAV module and drone assembly sessions.
- Deliver a structured 12-day programme (across two cohorts): Teach the general engineering strand during each 12-day programme, which includes 7 days of teaching
. You will deliver clear, engaging 45-minute morning lectures to classes of approximately 30–35 students. Lecture topics will include mechanical, electrical, civil, manufacturing, software, aerospace and chemical engineering - Administrative Duties: Review equipment and material needs for classes.
- Foster a positive learning environment: Build a warm, inclusive classroom where students feel confident, motivated, and encouraged to share ideas and learn collaboratively.
- Complete required training: Engage with our induction to learn our logistical requirements, company procedures, and safeguarding responsibilities.
- Teaching Materials & Flexibility: An outline and course handbook will be provided in advance; however, you will have the flexibility to adapt and modify the content to suit your teaching style and the needs of the students.
- Subject Expertise: Confident teaching foundational concepts across multiple general engineering areas.
- Inspirational Teacher: Passion for motivating students and developing their understanding, using interactive, discussion-based learning.

Skills:
Able to manage lesson planning, equipment preparation, workshop setup, and administrative responsibilities across a busy 12-day programme. - Prior teaching experience (in Engineering or closely related field), preferably in tutorial settings at Oxford or a similar institution.
- Proven expertise in designing and delivering academic content for young learners.
- Ability to teach a wide range of topics within the subject area.
