• Ward rounds, routine ward work and operating sessions
• Outpatient clinics
• Assessment of junior colleagues – familiar with ISCP process
• Contribute to specialist trainee assessment
• Occasional visits to peripheral outpatient clinics in the region

• GMC Registration with licence to work
• FRCS (SN) or equivalent
• Higher Medical Degree/CCT

• General training in Neurosurgery to specialist level or equivalent
• Interest in research with publications

• Sufficient leadership, organisational, communication, professional and personal skills to undertake the role effectively
• Good personal and interpersonal skills
• Good spoken and written English – highly developed communication skills
• Knowledge of NHS organisation and Government agenda for modernisation
