Job Summary

Are you a General Practitioner with passion for delivering high-quality, patient-centred care? We have an exciting opportunity at Cowley Road Medical Practice, a vibrant, community-focused GP practice in East Oxford. We are looking for a GP on a permanent contract to work three to nine sessions a week, with an option of becoming the Safeguarding Lead with protected admin time and additional remuneration for this leadership element.

You will be supported by a diverse multi-skilled team of clinical and non-clinical staff and will provide high-quality, person-centred clinical care to our patients. Main duties of the job

The role includes day-to-day general practice activities across acute presentations (duty doctor sessions) and chronic disease/long-term condition monitoring and management (through routine telephone/face-to-face appointments).

In the role, you will provide
  • GMS services to the patient population of Cowley, Oxford.
  • A contribution to clinical administration duties.
  • A number of duty clinician sessions throughout the week.
  • Optional for the right candidate: provide Safeguarding Leadership to both the clinical and non-clinical teams.

About Us

Cowley Road Medical Practice (CRMP) is a well-established GP Practice providing NHS and primary clinical care to patients in East Oxford. We are a forward-thinking Practice that places care of patients and staff at the core of what we do. Our close-knit team fosters a warm, friendly and compassionate environment for a diverse community of over 12,000 patients. Our team includes GPs, nurses, a pharmacist, healthcare assistants (HCAs) and administrative staff who work together to provide outstanding care.

Rated as GOOD by CQC, our team consists of around 30 professionals. We are actively involved in our local PCN and aim to introduce initiatives that enhance patient care. CRMP is supported by Principle Medical Ltd (PML), a not-for-profit GP-led organisation providing clinical services across Oxfordshire and Northamptonshire.

Job Responsibilities

Clinical

  • Provide assessment, diagnosis and treatment at first point of contact from a triage list; act as an autonomous clinician with support from clinical colleagues.
  • Identify, diagnose and manage treatment plans for patients at risk of developing long-term conditions.
  • Diagnose and manage both acute and chronic conditions, integrating drug and non-drug-based treatment methods into a management plan.
  • Accurately triage and prioritise patients, including in emergency situations, using a variety of techniques to obtain history and past medical/drug history.
  • Provide assessment, diagnosis and treatment for patients seen at their place of residence when needed.
  • Evaluate clinical information and initiate appropriate treatment and/or referral, including hospital admission if required.
  • Signpost to other services within locally agreed pathways and refer patients to appropriate care settings.
  • Maintain accurate and systematic documentation of patient interactions and care, including adverse events.
  • Advise and support the public on healthy lifestyles, health promotion and disease prevention.
  • Fulfil clinical administrative workload (e.g., pathology results and Doc Man).
