We are looking for an experienced Production Editor to join us on a 6-month fixed term contract, to support the launch of a flagship adult sector course in ELT. The role is responsible for supporting suppliers to utilise OUP's standard processes, systems and workflows to ensure the efficiency and quality of ELT products from handover of developed content to final print or digital output.
You will empower suppliers to take ownership of the production process, to ensure content is delivered to agreed publishing date and specifications and is consistent with the Divisions' Strategic Objectives and Mission Success Factors. In this role, you will work with senior editorial colleagues to manage third-party suppliers and coordinate schedules for digital and print content of varying complexity, ensuring timely, cost-effective delivery within agreed scope and quality standards.
The role supports cross-functional project planning and production workflows, contribute to budget control and management, and oversee editorial quality checks throughout production. You will facilitate clear, proactive communication among suppliers and stakeholders, maintaining transparent updates on schedules, progress, and costs. In addition, you will help develop supplier capability through guidance and feedback, and assist in identifying, analysing, and resolving production or supplier-related issues to ensure efficient processes, consistent quality, and continuous improvement.
Qualifications

- Some publishing experience.
- Experience of commissioning and managing the work of external suppliers.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Experience of working as part of a team.
- Excellent attention to detail.
- Well-developed organisational skills, including an ability to prioritise.
- Ability to build relationships, influence, and negotiate with key stakeholders.
- Experience of training and mentoring on workflows, processes and tools.
- Editorial experience in educational publishing.
- Experience of budget management.
- A background or interest in ELT.
