Earn £12.60 per hour, £24,638 per annum depending on experience and great benefits including a Health Cash Plan.
Temporary contract (9th October 2026), full time (37.5 hpw), we are flexible on work pattern.

This is a great job opportunity for a Community Housing Assistant to join Home Groups awesome housing team in our Reading Office. As our Community Housing Assistant (CHA) you’ll provide friendly, face to face support to our communities.
We are looking for the right candidate to lead a project identifying the fly tipping hotspots and working with our fabulous team of housing managers and local professional partners to make our customers feel safe and proud of the communities where they live.
What you’ll doThrough visibility, engagement with customers and proactivity on our estates, you’ll build strong connections and gain a deep understanding of our communities
You’ll support our housing managers to look after their patches and through this, help us to improve our local neighbourhoods.
You’ll support with tasks such as managing our voids processes which includes liaising with local authorities, estate inspections, engaging and meeting with contractors on site.
You’ll carry out and record the routine safety and compliance checks in our buildings and communities.
You’ll also manage the admin updating records, ordering, and arranging payment for works to be done.

- An appreciation that this is a role where you’ll spend much of your time lone working in our local estates
- A real passion for delivering excellent customer service and a genuine desire to help your customers.
- Confidence working collaboratively with colleagues in other parts of the business and external partners
- An understanding of housing management, housing law and universal credit would be ideal, but they’re not deal breakers!
- The ability to use technology to navigate our systems and update customer records

You’ll spend approximately 3 days working in our neighbourhoods and two days from home, we also meet on teams weekly and in person at least once per month.
There may be some flexibility to adapt your working hours, do let us know about this when you meet us at the interview
We mainly work Monday to Friday and work occasional evenings to meet with customers. You’ll be able to shape your own diary.
You’ll need a vehicle insured for business purposes. We’ll pay your mileage
You’ll need a Standard DBS check done, which we also pay for
