Job Description
Summary:
Primarily in Custodial Services/Recreational Facilities, performs a variety of custodial tasks related to maintaining the University's buildings, facilities and grounds. Hours for this position are 10pm to 6am Friday through Tuesday (Wed and Thurs are days off)
- Sweep and mop rooms and hallways; dust and perform general cleaning of rooms; clean windows
- Vacuum and shampoo carpets; may strip and wax floors; clean and sanitize restrooms
- Pick up trash, debris and/or litter from university buildings and grounds; empties trash receptacles
- Assist with maintaining safe indoor/outdoor surfaces, including during inclement weather
- May assist with events
- May pick up and/or deliver equipment and supplies
- May perform cleaning/washing duties in dining areas
- May assist with other related campus needs as assigned
- Requires a high school diploma or GED
- No experience required
- May require driver's license
- Position requires the ability to successfully pass a Post-Offer Pre-Employment (POPES) physical
Skills and Abilities
- Knowledge of the use of either cleaning equipment/materials or lawn equipment/materials
- Ability to understand and follow directions
Working Conditions:
Constant simple grasping. Frequent sitting, standing, walking, bending, twisting, pushing, pulling, stooping and use of motor skills that require firm grasping, fine manipulation, and pinching. Occasional squatting, kneeling, crawling, and climbing. Frequent lifting of materials weighing up to 50 pounds. Occasional overhead lifting of materials weighing up to 30 pounds. Minimal lifting and carrying/transporting materials weighing up to 70 pounds. Periodic assignment given which entail dealing with modestly unpleasant physical situations.
There may be considerable noise generated by machine operation, exposure to chemicals and some machinery may present an element of personal risk of injury due to an accident.
