SummaryThe Manager in Training assists the Store Manager and Assistant Store Manager with overall operations and administrative duties. The role requires a deep knowledge of each product area or department in the store, the ability to determine methods and approaches to meet store goals, and a commitment to uphold policies, procedures, and standards listed in the visual manual. The Manager in Training is passionate about outstanding customer service, promotes merchandise, and serves as an ambassador of Hibbett to create a unique customer experience that helps acquire and retain long‑time customers.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Assist the Store Manager and Assistant Store Manager in controlling the assets of Hibbett.
- Consult with the Store Manager and Assistant Store Manager to establish action plans that accomplish departmental and overall store responsibilities such as selling, restocking, merchandising, ordering, and scheduling.
- Assume responsibility for the entire store in the absence of the Store Manager and Assistant Store Manager.
- Provide knowledge and guidance to employees and customers in all departments when necessary.
- Maintain awareness of inventory, sales statistics, and expenses to ensure profitability across all departments.
- Direct staff to ensure each department’s responsibilities and standards are completed.
- Keep the Store Manager and Assistant Store Manager informed about inventory movement and customer trends.
- Guarantee quality customer service is maintained.
- Perform general administrative duties as needed and be trained in the Store Manager’s responsibilities.
- Produce and deliver extraordinary customer service as highlighted in the customer service manual, including helping customers as they enter the store and assisting multiple customers during peak periods.
- Promote and sell services and merchandise provided by Hibbett.
- Practice and uphold all Hibbett I City Gear policies, procedures, and standards as listed in the operations policy manual, personnel policy manual, visual manual, customer service manual, and memos.
- Protect the company’s assets and financial information by ensuring the accuracy and effectiveness of internal control procedures and informing management or appropriate officials of potential fraud risk.
- Supervise employees in the absence of the Store Manager, carrying out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with organizational policies and applicable laws.
- Interview, train, plan, assign, and direct work, and resolve problems.
- Experience working in a retail environment, preferably in footwear and athletic apparel.
- 1‑3 years of customer service experience.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to work in a fast‑paced environment.
- Ability to assist in managing a team and keep up with overall goals and profits.
- Self‑starter with initiative to take on important tasks without being asked.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously with precision.
- Team‑player passionate about outstanding customer service and selling merchandise.
