Medical Assistant

Mississippi Sports Medicine of Oxford (formerly Oxford Orthopaedics and Sports Medicine) is searching for a dedicated Certified Medical Assistant. The role requires working in a fast‑paced clinic environment with a positive attitude, excellent teamwork, and a strong drive for efficiency. This position will provide high‑quality care to patients seen within the clinic, under the direct supervision of a physician or physician assistant.

(Experience to be considered in lieu of certification)

• Escort patients to exam rooms, take detailed history of present illness (HPI), and confirm the reason for the visit
• Prepare patients for examination and be present during examination/treatment to assist the physician in treatment procedures
• Assist physician in performing procedures
• Update electronic medical record with relevant and current information about patients’ health condition and progress
• Schedule patient follow‑up appointments
• Clean and stock exam rooms
• Perform tasks within the scope of educational preparation, knowledge, and permitted local, state, and federal guidelines; and the policies of the facility
• Perform associated clerical tasks including scheduling, filing, returning phone calls, etc.
• Maintain a safe clinical environment in accordance with all OSHA guidelines

• Maintain a professional appearance and personal conduct at all times
• Thorough knowledge of orthopedic terminology and anatomy
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
• Detail oriented with above average organizational skills

• High school diploma or equivalent required
• Medical assistant certification strongly preferred (equivalent experience will be considered)

• Requires frequent bending, reaching, and repetitive hand movements, standing, walking, squatting, and sitting
• Lifting, carrying, pushing and pulling up to 50 pounds or greater
• Requires exposure to communicable diseases and/or bodily fluids which is minimized by the use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
