Job Summary
Performs patient care tasks and basic patient care services under the direction of the professional registered nurse. Provides a caring relationship that facilitates health and healing while preserving patient autonomy, dignity, and rights.

Overview

Performs patient care tasks and basic patient care services under the direction of the registered nurse. Provides a caring relationship that facilitates health and healing while preserving patient autonomy, dignity, and rights.

Responsibilities

• Communicates and collaborates with the registered nurse.
• Performs patient care tasks such as vital signs, blood glucose testing, phlebotomy, electrode placement, and venous compression devices under RN supervision.
• Performs basic patient care services including measuring height and weight, monitoring intake and output, retrieving equipment and supplies, and stocking patient rooms.
• Maintains a conducive environment for patients by keeping rooms clutter-free, removing linens and trash, and ensuring a quiet environment.
• Supports communication needs of patients and families, including answering call lights, orienting new patients, and assisting with discharge procedures.
• Promotes safety by assisting with patient mobility, safety rounds, and the 4
  
  Ps.
• Enhances patient comfort by providing water, ice, cups, pillows, blankets, and assistance with meals.
• Transports non-monitored patients and assists with monitored and/or intubated patient transports under RN supervision.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Specifications

Experience

• Minimum of 1 year recent experience (within the past 6 months).

Education

• High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent (minimum required).

Licensure

• CNA Program/Certification, AEMT/Paramedic Licensure/Certification, or MA Program/Certification; BLS Certification within 14 days of hire.
