Spinal Fellow in Neurosurgery
Grade:
Trust Doctor / Senior Clinical Fellow – MT05
Work pattern:
To be agreed with supervising consultants
Average hours per week: 48 hours. Two-tier ROTA, on second tier.
Start date:
August 2026
- Operating sessions
- Ward rounds and routine ward work
- Outpatient clinics
This whole‑time post is based at the West Wing, John Radcliffe Hospital with occasional visits to peripheral outpatient clinics in the region. On‑call commitment: two-tier ROTA, on second tier.
Person specification Qualifications- GMC registration
- FRCS (SN) or equivalent
- Higher medical degree / FRCS (SN)
- General training in neurosurgery to specialist level or equivalent
- Interest in research with publications
- Sufficient leadership, organisational, communication, professional and personal skills to undertake effectively the role of clinical fellow in spinal neurosurgery in a large teaching hospital.
- Good spoken and written English. Communication skills should be highly developed.
- Experience of teaching undergraduates and trainees.
- Knowledge of the organisation of the NHS and the Government’s agenda for its modernisation.
- Management training and experience.
