Insect Packing Technician

We are currently seeking a reliable and detail-oriented individual for the full-time Insect Packaging Technician position in our Owosso Insect Department. As a member of the Insect Department, you will play a key role in supporting our mission by helping maintain healthy feeder insect colonies, as well as spring tail and isopod cultures, that supply customers across the country.

• Daily care and maintenance of feeder insect colonies and microfauna cultures, including feeding, cleaning, monitoring colony health, and assisting with packing live insects and microfauna for shipment.
• Follow established procedures to ensure quality, consistency, and animal welfare standards are met, and support expansion projects to keep insects and microfauna in stock for  and our wholesale partners.
• Day-to-day tasks include routine care and expansion of spring tail and isopod colonies, routine cleaning, organization, and stocking of supplies in the work area, and assisting with packing live insects and microfauna for shipment.
• Making spring tail, isopod, and other invertebrate products for sale.
• Support expansion projects to keep insects and microfauna in stock for  and our wholesale partners.

• Good eye/hand coordination and ability to complete repetitive tasks accurately and efficiently
• Basic computer and technical skills
• Strong communication skills and ability to follow directions while accepting feedback
• Flexible, self-accountable, and able to work independently or as part of a team
• Reliable, organized, and committed to quality
• Special consideration is given to those with:
  • Experience working with invertebrates or live animals
  • Manufacturing or production experience
  • Ability to work cooperatively in a team environment
  • Ability to perform repetitive movements and tasks efficiently while maintaining accuracy
  • Comfort and experience using hand tools such as a drill, band saw, caulk gun, and similar small tools

• $16.00/hour starting wage
