Job Summary Under the direct supervision of the Director of Information Services, this position is responsible for leadership of information technology operations. Serves as project manager for infrastructure and helpdesk related projects. Responsible for the selection, implementation, and maintenance of all IT services and systems. Strives for superior performance by consistently providing a product or service to leadership and staff that is recognized as ultimately contributing to the patient and family experience.
Recognizes and demonstrates understanding of patient- and family-centered care.
Job Responsibilities
- Supervises and mentors all non-clinical IT staff, including helpdesk and IT analysts.
- Evaluates, implements, maintains all IT systems and software.
- Serves as project manager for all non-clinical IT related projects.
- Reviews, evaluates, and implements requests from user departments.
- Directly responsible for the management and maintenance of a subset of systems and/or software applications shared amongst IT staff.
- Strong problem solving skills, including the ability to analyze problems, determine cause and initiate corrective action.
- Maintains a high level of interaction with all clinical areas to continually enhance/improve patient care and the end-user experience.
- Shares on-call duties with other individuals within Information Services.
- Coordinates and participates in both internal and external user group functions.
- Demonstrates an independent work initiative, sound judgement, diplomacy, tact and professional demeanor.
- Demonstrates knowledge of and supports hospital mission, vision, value statements, standards, policies and procedures, operating instructions, confidentiality statements, corporate compliance plan, customer service standards, and the code of ethical behavior.
Job Responsibilities
- Responsible for future planning and strategy for IT operations.
- Stays current with technology through seminars, educational opportunities, and trade magazines.
- Other duties as assigned.
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in IT or related field, or Associate degree and progress toward Bachelor degree completion required.
- 5+ years of experience in IT field required.
- IT leadership or supervision preferred.
- Experience with server and/or desktop virtualization required.
- Experience in inter- and intra-departmental communications required. Highly effective and proven customer service skills required.
- Healthcare experience preferred.
- These physical requirements are not exhaustive and additional job related physical requirements may be added on an as needed basis. Corrective devices may be used to meet physical requirements.
- Sedentary Work:
Frequently required to stand, kneel and crouch. On a daily basis may be required to move about, sit, climb stairs and bend. Is frequently required to lift and carry up to 20 lbs. May be required to push/pull/carry items between 20-100 lbs. - Vision:
Requires the ability to perceive the nature of objects by the eye. Near acuity:
Clarity of vision at 20 inches or less. Midrange Acuity:
Clarity of vision at distances of more than 20 inches and less than 20 feet. - Motor Coordination:
While performing the duties of the job, it is required to regularly perform functions that include using hand and finger movement, handle or feel objects, be able to use tools or equipment that requires reaching with hands and arms. Must be able to travel independently throughout the hospital; access patients/families including areas confined by space and/or equipment. - Speaking/Hearing:
Ability to give and receive information through speaking and listening.
- Proficiency using modern office, computer and telephone equipment as used by Memorial Healthcare.
- Basic computer skills are required including keyboarding, MS Windows and/or PC's, thin clients, printers, and understanding of general technical concepts used in Healthcare Information Management.
