Job SummaryThis position assists the pharmacist in providing pharmaceutical services (e.g. processing prescriptions) in compliance with applicable State Board of Pharmacy regulations. Functions include those allowed by the Board of Pharmacy and are always checked before the product is released from the pharmacy. The Pharmacy Technician works under close supervision, enters patient medication orders into the pharmacy computer system, maintains medication inventory, places and receives stock replacement orders.
The role strives for superior performance by consistently providing a product or service that is recognized as contributing to the patient and family experience. The Technician demonstrates an understanding of patient and family centered care.

Workers Supervised: None
INTERRELATIONSHIPS: Other Pharmacy personnel, all hospital staff especially nursing, administration, medical staff, patients, and visitors, internal and external customers.
PrimaryJob Responsibilities
- All activities related to the preparation and sale of prescription and pharmacy-related products
- Work with payers, PBMs, and consultants to effectively manage client-specific utilization management strategies.
- Maintain inventory levels to company goals, rotate stock, comply with recalls, and utilize return processes.
- Focus on customer satisfaction and needs, ensuring that customers receive superior service through best practices and prompt communication with physicians, vendors, and colleagues.
- Create and maintain positive Pharmacy–Physician relationships and customer relationships.
- Perform Staff Pharmacy technician duties as directed by the Director of Pharmacy.
- Demonstrate knowledge of and support for the hospital mission, vision, values, standards, policies, procedures, operating instructions, confidentiality statements, corporate compliance plan, customer service standards, and the code of ethical behavior.
- Play an active role in safety programs including fire safety, disaster, bomb threat, tornado, infection control, hazardous materials, electrical safety, and personal safety.
- Comply with universal precautions and other safety procedures related to hazardous drugs, chemicals, and biologicals.
- Train new pharmacist and technician employees.
- Maintain working knowledge of pharmacy software programs.
- Participate in healthcare related community service activities.
- Participate in drug education activities for patients and staff.
- Represent the Pharmacy Department on hospital committees.
- Engage in emergency preparedness activities.
- Attend departmental staff meetings.
- Other duties as assigned.
- High School Diploma or Equivalent Required (post‑secondary Preferred).
- National certification (PTCB) and state pharmacy technician license required.
- Ability to work individually and as a team member.
- Demonstrates effective verbal communication skills.
- Possesses basic computer skills and proven ability to direct and supervise day‑to‑day work of Technicians (required).
- Post‑graduate residency program or technician experience in a relevant hospital or pharmacy environment preferred.
- Able to travel independently throughout all Memorial Healthcare facilities.
- Small motor skills required for operating modern computer, office, and telephone equipment as utilized by Memorial Healthcare (MHC).
- Proficiency using modern office, computer and telephone equipment as used by Memorial Healthcare.
- Ability to adapt and maintain focus in fast‑paced, quickly changing or stressful situations.
- Ability to read and interpret a variety of documents including policies, operating instructions, white papers, regulations, rules and laws.
- Able to see for the purpose of reading information received in formats including paper, computer, reports, bulletins, updates, manuals.
- Able to hear for work‑related purposes.
- Ability to interact with co‑workers, hospital staff, administration, patients, physicians, the public and all internal and external customers in a professional and effective, courteous and tactful manner, physically, verbally and in all written and electronic communication.
