Job Summary
This job includes duties ranging from food safety verifications to process capability studies. Ensure accurate and timely data collection from all plant processes to aid operations in decision making, and continuously strive for improvement. Perform all duties personally or through subordinate QA technicians.
Core Responsibilities
- Communicate and document process and product requirements, including development and maintenance of instructions and finished product specifications
- Provide quality-related training to co-workers and production personnel
- Perform job-specific work instructions; update procedures and forms according to document control policies
- Perform product and process audits, report status and monitor through resolution
- Direct workers engaged in inspection and testing activities to ensure continuous control over materials, facilities and products
- Investigate and address internal customer complaints regarding quality
- Maintain equipment in a sanitary manner and in accordance with applicable guidelines
- Ensure label approvals, verifications and compliance
- Communicate, resolve and document process and procedural deviations in a timely manner
- Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and plant policies, including HACCP, GMP and SSOPs
- Perform product attribute and sensory evaluations according to finished product specifications
- Monitor and resolve product and process deviations related to SSOPs, 's, product complaints, and non-conforming product
- Cross-train, perform and fill in as needed for technicians, other specialists, and lab analysis
- Conduct and participate in information gathering, problem solving, data collection, analysis, reporting and communication
- Provide leadership and communication from front line to middle management
- Monitor product and material inventories to ensure compliance with established guidelines
- Report any issues regarding food safety or quality to QA Management
- Comply with client requirements when applicable
- Follow policies and procedures, complete administrative tasks correctly and on time, and support organizational goals and values
- Meet productivity and quality standards, demonstrate accuracy and thoroughness, and seek ways to improve quality
- Observe safety and security procedures; report unsafe conditions and use equipment properly
- Maintain reliable attendance; report to work on time and cover responsibilities when absent
Supervisory Responsibilities
Leads QA techs in the Quality Department. Carries out supervisory responsibilities as needed in accordance with policies and laws, including training employees; planning, assigning and directing work; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
Position Type / Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time, 40-hour per week position. The individual must be committed to completing tasks on time and working overtime as needed to reach goals. If tasks cannot be completed timely, notify the appropriate person with an alternate plan. 2nd Shift.

Education and/or Experience
- Associates Degree in a related field plus two (2) years of related experience, or
- Four (4) years of related experience
