The Director of Rehabilitation is responsible for managing and supervising the rehabilitation department to meet resident needs, organizational fiscal requirements, and federal and state regulations. The Director of Rehabilitation achieves specific patient care, employee relations, customer service, and financial objectives through strong leadership and effective management of staff, customers, and referral sources. Maintains professional conduct, including positive levels of interaction and rapport with facilities and clients.
Represents the organization’s commitment to quality and service in all interactions and adheres to organizational policies and procedures.
- Reports to the Regional Director of Operations.
- Assign patient scheduling and departmental responsibilities as needed.
- Supervise, orient, train, evaluate, and counsel department employees to maintain high standards of performance and patient care.
- Assist with the interview and hiring process for rehabilitation staff as needed.
- Ensure compliance with organizational and facility-specific policies and procedures.
- Ensure therapists and assistants maintain compliant, accurate, and timely documentation that meets regulatory and payor requirements.
- Communicate and coordinate department functions with other services to promote interdisciplinary collaboration.
- Communicate effectively with administration regarding department goals, risks, outcomes, and performance.
- Participate in utilization review, quality assurance, care conferences, admission meetings, and rehabilitation meetings.
- Manage revenue and expense controls to meet budgetary expectations.
- Ensure timely and accurate assessment, reporting, and billing of services.
- Enhance clinical expertise and leadership skills through continuing education and professional development.
- Understand relevant payment models and ensure clinically appropriate delivery of services.
- Ensure compliance with infection control and environmental safety standards.
- Maintain confidentiality of organizational, facility, and patient information.
- Conduct oneself in an ethical, legal, and professional manner at all times.
